UAE launches NOVA AI-powered project to power the future of education, government innovation

The UAE Ministry of Education launched NOVA, an AI-driven project announced on 26 June 2026 to convert institutional data into actionable insights, accelerate evidence-based decision-making and streamline education-sector operations. NOVA aims to integrate intelligent systems across the ministry and wider education ecosystem aligned with the UAE National AI Strategy.

The UAE Ministry of Education has launched the NOVA project, an AI-driven initiative designed to accelerate institutional transformation across the education sector and public services. Announced on 26 June 2026, NOVA will deploy artificial intelligence and advanced data technologies to convert institutional data into actionable insights, with the stated goals of faster, evidence-based decision-making, improved educational outcomes and greater operational efficiency for students, teachers, schools and parents. The project is aligned with the UAE’s National AI Strategy and broader digital transformation agenda.

"The NOVA project reflects the ministry’s commitment to implementing the UAE leadership’s vision of integrating AI and advanced data technologies into government operations," said Minister of Education Sarah Al Amiri. She described the initiative as "a new phase of government innovation focused on redesigning and streamlining institutional processes."

Officials say NOVA will form part of the ministry’s wider effort to build an integrated institutional ecosystem. Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, said the project "builds on a broad ecosystem of investments and initiatives the ministry has introduced in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, capacity building, and data and systems development." He explained NOVA aims to unify institutional workflows across the ministry and the wider education sector, creating "a transparent operating environment supported by reliable data, intelligent systems, and advanced digital services."

The ministry frames NOVA as a strategic shift toward a more agile operating model that prioritises people and national capability development. Al Amiri emphasised the need for education systems to be "smarter, more flexible and proactive" to meet evolving needs and described "AI-powered digital transformation" as "a national and institutional necessity." The initiative is intended to strengthen national capabilities to use AI "responsibly and effectively," while equipping future generations with skills in AI, coding, robotics and other advanced technologies.

  • Key aims: convert data into actionable insights, speed evidence-based decision-making, improve learning outcomes and streamline administrative processes.
  • Scope: unify workflows across the Ministry of Education and the wider education sector with intelligent systems and advanced digital services.
  • Alignment: sits within the UAE’s National AI Strategy and complements existing digital learning platforms and AI-enabled services.

The launch of NOVA comes as part of a broader push to embed artificial intelligence across government services, supporting objectives such as economic diversification and improved public-sector efficiency. Education has been identified by the ministry as a central pillar of that transformation, and NOVA is pitched as reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to remain at the forefront of digital government innovation.

Looking ahead, the ministry expects NOVA to deliver measurable benefits for learners and educators while strengthening the country’s competitiveness in education. Mohammed Al Qasim said the initiative supports "the UAE’s vision of building a technology-driven education system that equips future generations with the skills required for a rapidly evolving economy." If effectively implemented, NOVA will act as a central platform for data-driven policy, institutional redesign and the responsible adoption of AI across the education ecosystem.
