UAE and Saudi Arabia Turbocharges with New Robotic and AI Integration to Boom Travel Technology to These Surprising Levels

The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are accelerating the deployment of hospitality robots and AI-driven services across hotels, events and smart cities, with projects set to reshape regional tourism by 2026. Emirati firm YS Lootah Tech has unveiled the humanoid cultural ambassador “Bu Sunaidah,” while OMODA & JAECOO have deployed humanoid and quadruped units — “Mornine” and “Argos” — at major exhibitions. In Saudi Arabia, Riyadh-based QSS AI & Robotics, founded by Elie Metri, has developed the homegrown service robot “RoboNex.” NEOM’s OXAGON is also slated to host a 300-room YOTEL property built from the ground up with integrated robotics and automation, due to be fully operational by 2026.

"The robot serves purely as a tool for education, hospitality, and community engagement," developers of Bu Sunaidah said, underscoring the emphasis on culturally integrated interactions rather than simple automation.

Projects and technical capabilities

• Bu Sunaidah (YS Lootah Tech) — a humanoid dressed in traditional Emirati attire designed as a cultural and storytelling ambassador; footage of the robot appearing in a Dubai mosque prompted public discussion about cultural integration.
• Mornine and Argos (OMODA & JAECOO) — Mornine offers AI-powered speech recognition "capable of communicating naturally in 11 languages," while Argos delivers autonomous navigation and mobile assistance for high-traffic events and exhibitions.
• RoboNex (QSS AI & Robotics) — a Saudi-developed service robot combining cashier functions with interactive host capabilities, featuring structural engineering, controller programming and advanced Arabic voice processing developed domestically.
• YOTEL OXAGON (NEOM) — a 300-room, robotics-integrated hotel planned within OXAGON’s floating industrial city, intended to showcase end-to-end automation across operations.

Industry sources highlight a deliberate design philosophy: robots are not intended to replace human hospitality staff but to handle repetitive, physically demanding or data-heavy tasks. That allows human employees to focus on higher-value, emotionally intelligent service. Developers emphasise localisation — RoboNex was built to process regional dialects and cultural nuances, while Bu Sunaidah was explicitly created to promote Emirati heritage alongside technological innovation.

Event operators in the UAE are already trialling mixed fleets of humanoid and quadruped robots to manage visitor flows and multilingual guest interactions. The deployment of Mornine, with its 11-language capability, reflects the Gulf’s need to serve diverse international audiences during exhibitions and mega-events. In Saudi Arabia, the focus leans more toward scalable operational automation for sprawling new developments and smart-city infrastructure tied to Vision 2030 objectives.

Outlook: As these projects move from pilots to commercial rollouts by 2026, the region is positioning itself as both a market and a developer of bespoke hospitality automation. Continued emphasis on cultural integration, Arabic language processing and hybrid human-robot service models will be key to public acceptance and operational success. If NEOM’s YOTEL OXAGON and domestic efforts like RoboNex scale as planned, the GCC’s hospitality sector could see a substantial reallocation of labour toward higher-skilled guest engagement while routine tasks become increasingly automated.
