Marriott Launches Two Additional Cobranded Cards For The UAE Market With Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank

Marriott International, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and Visa have launched two new co‑branded Marriott Bonvoy Visa cards for customers in the United Arab Emirates: the Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Infinite Card and the Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Signature Card. The products complement Marriott’s existing cobranded range in the UAE and offer welcome point bonuses, elite status fast‑tracks and everyday earnings on spend — but come with notable fees and a disclosed “Monthly Profit Rate” of 3.75% that effectively functions as an interest analogue for ADIB’s Sharia‑compliant structure.

“This partnership represents a significant step in enhancing how we reward our customers and connect with their lifestyle aspirations,” Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said. “By combining ADIB’s leadership in Islamic finance with Marriott Bonvoy’s world‑class hospitality programme and Visa’s payment technology leadership, we are creating meaningful value that extends beyond banking and reflects our vision to be a trusted partner in every aspect of our customers’ lives.”

Card highlights and commercial terms

The two ADIB cards offer different welcome packages and tier benefits:

  • Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Infinite Card — limited‑time offer: earn up to 200,000 Marriott Bonvoy points and the opportunity to fast‑track from Gold Elite to Platinum Elite. The Infinite tier also includes 15 elite night credits on comparable Emirates NBD Infinite products.
  • Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Signature Card — 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points on activation, plus 35,000 points on renewal in the detailed product page; the card comes with Silver Elite status and the ability to reach Gold after $15,000 in annual spend, together with 10 elite night credits.

Both cards award Bonvoy points on everyday spend and let cardholders redeem for stays, upgrades and experiences across Marriott’s portfolio of more than 30 brands and over 10,000 destinations. Cardholders can also transfer Bonvoy points to more than 40 airline partners and redeem for Marriott Bonvoy Moments.

Fees, earnings and cautions

  • ADIB Signature card fees: Covered Card Annual Fee — AED 499; 5th Supplementary Card Annual Fee — AED 499.
  • Emirates NBD’s existing Marriott Bonvoy ADIB Visa Infinite Card (for comparison) lists a Covered Card Annual Fee of AED 2,500 and similar supplementary card fees, with higher point earnings for hotel spend (8 points per USD at Marriott hotels on the existing Infinite product).
  • Earnings on the ADIB Visa Signature: 3 points per USD at Marriott hotels, 2 points per USD on foreign spend and 1.5 points per USD on domestic spend (as listed in the product summary).
  • Monthly Profit Rate: 3.75% — described in promotional material as the equivalent of an interest rate under ADIB’s Sharia‑compliant model. Commentary accompanying the launch warns that carrying a balance would make these cards expensive and that ADIB applies significant foreign‑exchange charges for non‑AED transactions.

Andrew Watson, Chief Commercial Officer, EMEA, Marriott International, framed the launch as part of Marriott’s regional engagement: “The launch of these new credit cards in the UAE reflects our continued commitment to enhancing the travel journey for our Marriott Bonvoy members and offering them even more rewarding ways to fuel their passion for travel.” Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, added that the card proposition is supported by Visa’s global acceptance and security.

Outlook

The ADIB–Marriott–Visa cards broaden the UAE market’s cobranded options, offering customers additional paths to elite status and large introductory bonuses. Consumers weighing the cards should balance the generous point offers and elite benefits against the annual fees, FX costs and the 3.75% monthly profit rate — financial terms that make it essential to avoid revolving balances if the goal is to extract value from Marriott Bonvoy rewards.
