Wadi Jeddah, the investment arm of King Abdulaziz University (KAU), has forged a strategic partnership with EVS Saudi Arabia 2026 (2nd Edition) to accelerate national electric mobility innovation. As part of the agreement, EVINEX (Electric Vehicles Innovation Next Generation) has been appointed the National Challenge Partner for EVS Saudi Arabia 2026, which will run from 4–6 May 2026 at the Jeddah International Exhibition & Conference Center. The collaboration aims to align academic research, industry engagement and talent development with Saudi Vision 2030 priorities in electric mobility.

“This partnership reflects sour commitment to supporting Saudi Vision 2030 by connecting academic excellence with industry and national priorities. Through Wadi Jeddah and EVINEX, we are focused on transforming research, talent, and innovation into practical solutions that contribute to the Kingdom’s electric mobility and industrial development goals,” Wadi Jeddah said in a statement.

Partnership details and responsibilities

The partnership positions EVINEX to lead the National EV Challenge, a challenge-based innovation initiative designed to identify, support and accelerate high-impact solutions addressing national priorities in electric mobility. According to the announcement, EVINEX will leverage integrated capabilities across talent development, research and testing infrastructure, incubation and industry collaboration to ensure the challenge aligns with market needs, national policies and the Kingdom’s localization and sustainability agenda.

  • Parties involved: Wadi Jeddah (KAU’s investment arm), EVS Saudi Arabia (organised by MIE Events) and EVINEX as National Challenge Partner.
  • Event: EVS Saudi Arabia 2026, 4–6 May 2026, Jeddah International Exhibition & Conference Center.
  • Outcome: Winner of the National EV Challenge to be announced during EVS Saudi Arabia 2026.

Context and significance

MIE Events, the organiser of EVS Saudi Arabia, framed the collaboration as strategic for translating visibility into execution. “EVS Saudi Arabia was established as a platform that delivers meaningful impact, not just visibility. Partnering Wadi Jeddah, and EVINEX as National Challenge Partner strengthens the event’s mission to support execution, innovation, and talent development aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Announcing the National Challenge winner at EVS Saudi 2026 reinforces the event’s role as a catalyst for national progress,” MIE Events said.

The second edition builds on an inaugural 2025 event that “brought together thousands of industry professionals, senior decision-makers, and global electric mobility stakeholders,” establishing EVS Saudi as an internationally connected forum for the Kingdom’s evolving mobility ecosystem. Through Wadi Jeddah, KAU continues to translate research and intellectual capital into market-ready technologies and ventures intended to support national industrial and economic objectives.

Outlook

Organisers and partners are positioning the National EV Challenge as a mechanism to surface commercially viable, locally relevant solutions that address both immediate deployment needs and longer-term localization goals. The collaboration explicitly links the event to multiple Vision 2030 priorities: economic diversification, advanced manufacturing, future skills development and sustainable mobility. With the winner to be revealed during EVS Saudi Arabia 2026, the partnership aims to move beyond idea-stage innovation toward practical, execution-led outcomes that can be piloted and scaled within the Kingdom’s mobility sector.
