Vodafone Oma Digital capability strengthens Oman’s proposition to live, work and invest

Vodafone Oman’s digital capabilities are reinforcing Oman’s appeal as a destination to live, work and invest, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Eng. Bader Al Zidi said at the official opening of the Live Oman showcase in London. Speaking to government and business leaders, Eng. Al Zidi positioned Vodafone Oman as both a contributor to the Sultanate’s National Digital Economy Program and a practical partner for the Live Oman campaign, noting the operator’s cloud-native 5G infrastructure, market penetration and customer channels that support the country’s economic goals.

“Oman has built strong digital foundations for its next phase of growth. The opportunity now lies in what those foundations enable: better services, stronger businesses and new possibilities across the economy,” Eng. Bader Al Zidi said. “Connectivity delivers its greatest value when people and organisations can use it to move their ambitions forward.”

Eng. Al Zidi framed Vodafone Oman’s role as extending beyond network provision to combining connectivity and technology “in ways that help individuals, businesses and communities achieve more.” He highlighted the operator’s role in amplifying the Live Oman campaign, led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, through communications, connectivity support for the delegation in London and outreach to customers and partners inside the Sultanate.

Vodafone Oman launched operations in March 2022 through a strategic partnership between Oman Future Telecommunications Company and Vodafone Group. The operator markets itself as the country’s only fully digital-first operator, supported by a 100% cloud-based 5G network infrastructure. Vodafone Oman reports having captured approximately 17% of the market to date, driven by expansion of its 5G Next Level network and digital services.

Operational strengths cited in the Live Oman presentation include the award-winning My Vodafone App, which Vodafone says has exceeded four million downloads and achieved “100% market penetration,” offering digital onboarding, auto-pay, SIM and eSIM replacement and access to government services. The company also points to an extensive physical and retail footprint: 75 stores and eStores alongside more than 5,500 sales channels nationwide.

The National Digital Economy Program was referenced as the framework for the next phase of digitisation in Oman: building on government digital transformation to focus on digitising promising economic sectors, expanding digital services and increasing their contribution to national growth. Eng. Al Zidi stressed that the broader proposition for people and businesses deciding where to locate now includes the availability of digital services and the environment those services create for growth.

Context and practical support

  • Live Oman, led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, aims to present the Sultanate as a place “to live, work, build and invest.”
  • Vodafone Oman says it supported the campaign via its communications channels, connectivity capabilities and marketing experience, and provided connectivity support to the Live Oman delegation in London.
  • Since launching in March 2022, Vodafone Oman positions itself as a digitally native operator leveraging cloud-based 5G to offer prepaid, postpaid and enterprise solutions.

Looking ahead, Vodafone Oman’s executive message ties the operator’s technological investments to national objectives: expanding digital services across sectors and enhancing the overall investment proposition of the country. As Oman advances its National Digital Economy Program, Vodafone Oman is signalling an increased role in enabling services that underpin decisions by residents and businesses considering the Sultanate as their next base.
