Tunisia Hosts Second International Forum on Intelligent Information Technologies

The IC3IT’26 forum in Hammamet (March 26–28, 2026) brought together international researchers and technology experts to discuss and demonstrate applied and foundational work in AI, data science, IoT and other emerging areas. The event aims to produce strategic recommendations to strengthen collaboration between universities and industry.

The second International Forum on Innovative and Intelligent Information Technologies (IC3IT’26) opened in Hammamet on March 26, bringing together researchers, academics and technology experts from around the world for a three-day programme running through March 28, 2026. Organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and jointly hosted by the University of Tunis El Manar and the University of Batna 2 in Algeria, the forum staged an opening ceremony led by Maaz Al-Shafra, President of the University of Tunis El Manar, alongside Hassan Samadi, Director of the University of Batna 2.

According to TechAfrica News, "The event is expected to conclude with strategic recommendations aimed at strengthening technological innovation and fostering closer collaboration between academia and industry at both regional and international levels."

The forum’s organising committee, chaired by Shaker Al-Sayd with Momin Hamouma, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing, among key academic figures in attendance, set out a broad agenda that mixes foundational research topics with applied demonstrations. Delegates and presenters arrived from institutions across multiple continents, with participation recorded from countries including Senegal, Qatar, Turkey, Japan, France, Germany, the United States and Canada.

  • Event: IC3IT’26 (International Forum on Innovative and Intelligent Information Technologies)
  • Dates: March 26–28, 2026
  • Hosts: University of Tunis El Manar and University of Batna 2
  • Supervision: Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
  • Notable organisers: Maaz Al-Shafra; Hassan Samadi; Shaker Al-Sayd; Momin Hamouma

The forum programme spans a wide technical remit, addressing artificial intelligence, data science, distributed systems, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity and digital ethics. It also spotlights emerging areas such as human-computer interaction, augmented and virtual reality, quantum computing, robotics and next-generation wireless technologies including 5G and 6G. Organisers paired theoretical sessions with practical, hands-on workshops that explore the application of AI in medical fields and advanced data analysis.

Practical demonstrations and project showcases at IC3IT’26 target industry-facing problems across healthcare, smart cities, digital education, fintech and e‑commerce. The event’s emphasis on applied research is intended to reinforce the link between university-led innovation and market or policy needs, a theme organisers highlighted as central to the forum’s mission.

Looking ahead, the closing plenary is expected to synthesise the forum’s discussions into a set of strategic recommendations. Those outcomes aim to steer future collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners at both regional and international levels, and to position universities as active drivers of research and intelligent solutions within the evolving digital economy. Participants and hosts have signalled that follow-up among participating institutions will be critical to translating conference deliberations into joint projects, workshops and pilot deployments.
