Tesla rolls out Grok AI companion in UAE with multiple modes

Tesla has begun rolling out its Grok AI companion to eligible vehicles in the UAE as part of software version 2026.32.6, bringing voice-driven navigation, entertainment and learning features to Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck owners at no additional cost. Developed by SpaceX AI and integrated into Tesla’s latest update, Grok enables drivers to set and adjust routes, find points of interest, place hands-free calls, control media and climate settings, and consult the vehicle owner’s manual through conversational prompts.

"Conversations are anonymous to Tesla and not associated with the vehicle, ensuring owner privacy," Tesla said, underscoring privacy protections built into the new in-car assistant.

Context and features

Grok represents an expansion of Tesla’s in-car digital experience by offering multiple interaction modes and persona options intended to suit different passenger needs and preferences. The assistant supports a broad range of subject areas — from physics and mathematics to history and philosophy — and is designed to deliver natural, multilingual conversational flow.

  • Standard modes include: Assistant, Language Tutor, Therapist, Storyteller, Meditation, Doc, Conspiracy.
  • Children-focused modes include: Kids Story Time and Kids Trivia Game.
  • Selectable personas available via the steering wheel or touchscreen are: Ara (Upbeat Female), Eve (Soothing Female), Leo (British Male), Rex (Calm Male) and Sal (Smooth Male).

The system integrates with vehicle systems to provide practical assistance, such as interpreting dashboard alerts and offering maintenance tips by referencing the owner’s manual. Grok also broadens entertainment options by enabling media search for songs and podcasts through voice commands, and supports navigation functions including setting destinations and rerouting while on the move.

Owners must have a Premium Connectivity subscription or a stable Wi‑Fi connection to enable and use Grok, Tesla notes. The rollout is being made available to eligible vehicles at no extra charge as part of the software update.

Outlook

By embedding Grok into its vehicle software, Tesla aims to make journeys more interactive and useful — turning travel time into opportunities for learning, entertainment or productivity. The combination of multilingual support and customizable personas is designed to appeal to families as well as individual drivers, particularly with the inclusion of kids-specific modes.

For prospective buyers considering Tesla in the UAE, list pricing cited in the rollout announcement highlights the Model Y Premium at $47,648 (AED 174,990) with leasing options starting at $1,028 (AED 3,777), the Model 3 from $39,479 (AED 144,990) with leasing from $859 (AED 3,155), and the Cybertruck at AED 404,990 (priced in the release as $1,10,276). As Grok becomes available across eligible Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck vehicles, adoption will depend on owners’ connectivity subscriptions and comfort with AI-driven in-car interfaces.
