Startup Investments Reach $3.3 Billion in July 2026 as UAE Leads AI Funding and Saudi Arabia Diversifies Deal Activity - إنت عربي

Startup investments across the Middle East, Africa and the Arab region surged to $3.3 billion in July 2026, a month-on-month rise of 106.26% (approximately $1.7 billion) from June, driven overwhelmingly by large artificial intelligence financings in the United Arab Emirates. The total was recorded across 20 investment deals — 16 disclosed — spanning nine sectors, with artificial intelligence, fintech, gaming, e‑commerce, healthtech, mobility and logistics, insurtech and hospitality technology among the busiest verticals.

"Startup investments across the Middle East, Africa, and the Arab region recorded a significant month-on-month increase in July, rising by 106.26%, or approximately $1.7 billion, compared to the previous month," the monthly report notes.

Artificial intelligence dominated July funding, capturing $3.124 billion across five deals, or 95.25% of the month's total. The largest single transaction saw UAE-based BlueFive Capital lead an almost $3 billion funding round for China’s Kling AI, a developer of AI-powered video generation technology. The UAE accounted for $3.024 billion of regional investment across six deals (four disclosed), representing 96.8% of total funding and more than $3.02 billion of AI capital across four transactions.

Outside the AI megadeal, fintech remained the second-largest sector with five investments totaling $82.5 million (2.52% of the monthly total). Saudi Arabia emerged as the region’s second-largest market in July, securing $93.5 million across seven deals (five disclosed) that diversified beyond fintech into gaming, insurtech, agritech, hospitality technology and AI.

Key deals and country highlights

  • BlueFive Capital led nearly $3 billion into Kling AI (video-generation AI) — the single largest transaction in July.
  • Saudi fintech Fina obtained $75 million in Shariah-compliant financing from Fasanara Capital to expand embedded finance solutions for SMEs.
  • UAE-based Whiteshield raised $15 million in a round led by Ruya Partners to expand sovereign AI solutions for governments.
  • Syria’s Ministry of Communications signed a $10 million investment agreement to launch the Labby application and accelerate digital transformation.
  • Saudi insurtech DESAISIV launched an $8 million growth funding round to scale AI-powered insurance solutions.
  • UAE startup Bundle raised $5.5 million in a Pre-Seed round to launch a global Web3 rewards platform; AVELIN AI secured $3.7 million in Pre-Seed funding to develop sovereign AI solutions.
  • Morocco’s ORA Technologies received an additional $2 million as part of its $10 million Series A; Saudi game developer Ash Games raised $1.5 million in Seed funding.
  • Egypt’s Reme‑D secured $1.45 million in a Pre-Series A round led by Anara Impact Capital to expand molecular diagnostics services.

Smaller and undisclosed rounds also featured: Maalexi closed an oversubscribed round led by The Co‑operative Insurance Company and Global Ventures ahead of a planned Series A; Planno received a strategic investment from Incubayt Investments for its climate tech platform; and Uvera closed a Seed round with participation from Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, LAB7 by aramco and Core Vision Investment to back food waste reduction and safety technologies.

Outlook: July’s concentrations underline how a handful of outsized AI transactions can reshape monthly regional totals. With the UAE capturing nearly the entirety of July’s capital thanks to multi‑hundred‑million and multibillion-dollar AI deals, attention will shift to whether Saudi Arabia’s broader pipeline — spanning fintech, gaming and insurtech — can deliver larger individual rounds in the coming months to rebalance regional flows. Investors and startups alike will be watching follow‑on activity from the BlueFive/Kling AI round and the deployment plans tied to Whiteshield, Fina and DESAISIV as indicators of where the next major financings may emerge.
