Saudi’s GAIA Raises USD 1.5M to Build Sovereign AI for Enterprises
Saudi enterprise AI startup Gaia raised USD 1.5M in a pre-seed round led by SEEDRA Ventures to build a sovereign AI platform that keeps sensitive data within company boundaries while connecting existing systems.

Saudi enterprise AI startup Gaia has raised USD 1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by SEEDRA Ventures to build a sovereign AI platform tailored for enterprises. The funding will be used to continue product development and to work with organisations on applying AI to operational challenges while keeping sensitive data within company boundaries.
"Our mission is to become the organization’s one brain to find, understand, and act on its knowledge," the company states, describing the core purpose of its platform.
Founded by Badr Al Malluh and Mohammad Rababah, Gaia positions itself around a common enterprise pain point: information fragmentation across email, documents, CRM and ERP systems and other business applications. Rather than requiring organisations to move data into third‑party environments, Gaia connects existing systems through what it calls a single operational intelligence layer, ensuring that "data never leaves the organization."
The platform bundles a suite of capabilities aimed at bridging search, comprehension and action on enterprise knowledge:
- Enterprise Search that "provides instant, cited answers across every connected system," showing the exact file, thread or record where information originated;
- An AI Assistant that generates responses grounded in an organisation’s own knowledge base and links back to original sources;
- Purpose‑built AI Agents that go beyond retrieval to complete tasks across applications, automate recurring work such as summaries and reports, and run full workflows; and
- Permission and human oversight features so that "high‑risk agent actions are routed for human approval before execution."
Gaia emphasizes both data security and operational control as central differentiators. By keeping data on‑premises or within a client’s controlled systems and by routing critical decisions to humans, the startup aims to tackle two common barriers to enterprise AI adoption: fragmented information and concerns around data security and governance.
The USD 1.5 million pre‑seed round led by SEEDRA Ventures arrives as Saudi organisations accelerate digital transformation initiatives. Gaia’s approach — focusing on locally managed, sovereign AI capabilities that integrate with existing enterprise systems — is intended to appeal to companies handling sensitive internal knowledge that cannot be exposed to external model providers or cloud environments.
Looking ahead, Gaia plans to use the funding to expand its platform capabilities and deepen enterprise partnerships. The company says it will continue developing tools that help organisations "search, understand, and act on information" without moving it outside their controlled environments, and to pilot AI applications against real operational challenges.
Key near‑term benchmarks to watch include broader enterprise adoption of Gaia’s operational intelligence layer, deployment of its AI agent workflows inside client systems, and how the company scales its product and sales efforts across Saudi Arabia’s enterprise market as organisations evaluate sovereign AI options.
