Saudi Startup Rime Secures Over $2 Million in Seed Funding Led by Sidra Ventures to Expand Its Edge AI Platform - إنت عربي

Riyadh-based AI startup Rime has closed a Seed funding round exceeding $2 million to expand its edge AI platform, the company announced. The round was led by Seedra Ventures and included participation from Athla Investment, Unity Invest Partners and a group of angel investors. Rime said the new capital will be used to strengthen its presence in the Saudi market, accelerate platform development and help enterprises deploy secure, scalable AI applications at physical sites.

"We are entering a new era of Physical AI, where intelligent systems move beyond screens to interact with and make decisions directly within real-world operational environments," said Mohammed Almarshidi, Co‑Founder of Rime. "We believe that processing data on-site through edge computing will become the foundation for deploying field AI agents, thanks to its faster processing, seamless integration with existing systems, and immediate event response."

The funding follows an earlier Pre‑Seed round that was also led by Seedra Ventures, underscoring the investor's continued backing of Rime and its founding team. Founded in Riyadh in 2024 by Mohammed Almarshidi and Aref AlOtaibi, Rime builds Agentic AI systems that run directly in operational environments such as retail stores, branches and service centers. By processing visual and sensor data locally — a blend the company describes as Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) — Rime's platform enables real‑time decision‑making without routing sensitive data to remote data centers.

Platform footprint and capabilities

  • More than 6,000 cameras are currently connected to Rime’s AI agents.
  • Rime operates across over 2,000 operational locations serving major retail and service businesses throughout Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.
  • The platform combines camera feeds with sensor inputs to deliver real‑time operational insights, automated responses, compliance monitoring and loss reduction.

Abdullah AlMunif, Co‑Founder of Seedra Ventures, framed the investment within the firm's venture studio approach: "Our investment in Rime reflects Sidra's Venture Studio model, We have supported the company since its earliest stages, working closely with the founding team to develop the product and bring it to market." He added: "As AI foundation models become increasingly accessible and their capabilities converge, competitive advantage is no longer determined by the models themselves, but by the ability to deliver intelligent decision‑making directly to operational environments in real time."

Rime positions its product as an end‑to‑end managed platform that handles deployment and operations so customers can adopt AI capabilities "without technical complexity," according to Almarshidi. The company emphasizes on‑site processing for low latency and tighter integration with existing enterprise systems, enabling immediate event responses and reducing dependence on centralized infrastructure.

Outlook

With the new funding, Rime plans to accelerate adoption of edge AI across daily business operations and to scale its deployment footprint in Saudi Arabia. The company says it will continue developing features for secure, user‑friendly AI agents and focus on converting existing camera and sensor installations into an "intelligent operational layer." Rime’s rapid expansion to more than 2,000 sites will serve as the immediate testbed for product enhancements and broader commercial rollout across the Gulf.
