Saudi Fintech Startup TalMal Closes Pre-Seed Round with MM Partners, Eyes Market Expansion

Saudi fintech startup TalMal has closed a Pre-Seed investment round with participation from MM Partners, marking a shift from product development toward commercial expansion in the Saudi market. Financial terms of the round were not disclosed. The funding will support TalMal’s plans to expand its network of corporate and merchant partners, accelerate development of its technology infrastructure, and broaden its employee user base as it scales a salary-backed flexible purchasing model.

"Closing the Pre-Seed round represents an important milestone for the company as it transitions from building and validating its product to entering an expansion phase," said Thamer Faisal Al-Qaishish, Founder and CEO of TalMal. He added that MM Partners’ entry "reflects confidence in TalMal’s vision and the market opportunity it is targeting," and that the partnership will support "faster growth and help the company reach a broader base of employees, companies, and merchants."

TalMal is developing a three-sided digital ecosystem designed to connect employees, employers, and merchants through a salary-backed flexible purchasing model. The platform aims to give employees greater flexibility in making purchases while enabling employers to manage repayment processes and providing merchants with access to a larger customer base via an integrated digital infrastructure. Unlike single-purpose purchasing or payment tools, TalMal is building technology to manage interactions among the three parties and to support purchasing and repayment workflows as transaction volumes grow.

  • Incubation: TalMal is currently one of the projects incubated at Jadah 30, affiliated with the Social Development Bank, where it has been refining its business model and technology products.
  • Investor role: MM Partners participated in the Pre-Seed round, bringing not only capital but also strategic expertise, market access, and business networks aimed at supporting startups through various growth stages.
  • Product focus: The company is moving beyond validation into commercial rollout, with an emphasis on scaling the model developed during incubation and building a broader presence across Saudi Arabia's fintech landscape.

"TalMal is addressing a clear challenge in the employee purchasing experience through a model that connects employees, employers, and merchants in a way that differs from traditional market solutions," said Mounir Al‑Shahri, CEO of MM Partners. He highlighted the model’s scalability and its ability to create shared value for all three parties as key factors that attracted MM Partners’ interest amid evolving fintech needs in Saudi Arabia.

In the coming phase, TalMal plans to expand its corporate and merchant partnerships and strengthen its backend systems to support a growing user base. The company aims to evolve from a flexible purchasing solution into a unified digital platform that links the parties involved in transactions through a single experience. With MM Partners on board, TalMal intends to accelerate technology development and broaden its reach among employees and employers across the kingdom.

While the precise size of the Pre-Seed investment remains undisclosed, the round underscores investor interest in fintech models that integrate payroll, employer-managed repayments, and merchant networks. For TalMal, the immediate priorities are scaling the infrastructure developed during incubation, signing on additional corporate and merchant partners, and driving adoption among employees as it moves from prototype and validation to a wider commercial rollout.
