QIA invests in Positron AI’s $875mn Series C financing

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has participated in Positron AI’s $875 million Series C financing, a round that values the AI inference hardware company at $5 billion. The financing was structured in two tranches: a $375 million Series C at a $3.5 billion pre-money valuation and a Series C-1 of up to $500 million, and was co-led by NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, SemiAnalysis Capital, and Jim Clark.

"The proceeds will support the final design stage and tapeout of Asimov, its next‑generation silicon, with production targeted for the second half of 2027," Positron said.

Round composition and participants

The $875 million package follows QIA’s earlier participation in Positron AI’s $230 million Series B round in February 2026, which valued the company at $1.06 billion. Additional investors in the latest financing include Cisco Investments and Naver Ventures, while NEA and Jim Clark are identified as leaders of the Series C-1 tranche. Jim Clark is noted in the financing as the founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape.

Technology and product roadmap

Positron AI develops hardware and software for AI inference — the runtime process that executes trained AI models. The company describes a memory-first architecture designed to tackle constraints in memory capacity, memory bandwidth and power consumption. That architecture aims to reduce reliance on constrained High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate (CoWoS) supply chains and to support deployment in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled data centers.

The proceeds from the Series C will be directed toward the "final design stage and tapeout of Asimov," Positron said, with production targeted for the second half of 2027. Asimov is intended to be Positron’s next‑generation silicon. Alongside Asimov, the company is ramping production of Titan, its multi‑terabyte‑memory inference system. Titan is designed to combine four to eight Asimov chips and to serve models exceeding 16 trillion parameters and context windows of more than 10 million tokens in a single node.

Positron also reported ongoing commercial deployments: it is deploying more than 50 racks of Atlas, its first‑generation inference system, at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Governance and strategic backing

As part of the financing, several investors will join Positron AI’s board. Appointments include Forest Baskett of NEA, Gavin Baker of Atreides Management, Dylan Patel, founder of SemiAnalysis, and Thomas Jermoluk of the Jim Clark Office.

Outlook

With QIA and a cohort of strategic technology and venture investors backing the company, Positron is positioning itself to scale silicon design, tapeout and manufacturing for large‑context, multi‑trillion‑parameter inference workloads. If Asimov reaches production in the second half of 2027 as targeted, and Titan is successfully ramped, Positron could expand its presence in cloud and enterprise deployments where large‑memory inference is a growing requirement.
