Pinnacle Bets on the Maturity of Saudi Arabia’s Venture Capital Market With a Fund Combining Growth Capital and Secondary Deals

Pinnacle launches fund combining growth capital and secondary deals to bolster Saudi VC liquidity

Pinnacle has launched a new investment fund focused on venture capital investments that combines growth-stage capital with secondary transactions, aiming to provide investors access to a select group of Saudi growth companies while strengthening liquidity across the Kingdom’s venture capital ecosystem. The fund targets leading growth companies through both participation in later funding rounds and by executing secondary deals that give existing shareholders routes to liquidity.

"From Startup Funding to Exit Opportunities: Pinnacle Targets a More Complete Investment Cycle in Saudi Tech," the firm said, framing the vehicle as a response to the evolving needs of local technology companies and their investors.

The strategy reflects Pinnacle’s view that Saudi Arabia’s venture capital market is entering a new stage of maturity. The firm highlights that as startups in the Kingdom scale into profitable growth companies, the investment landscape must expand beyond early-stage financing to include growth capital, secondary liquidity and clearer exit pathways. Pinnacle argues that while strong, profitable growth companies are emerging across Saudi Arabia, liquidity and exit options remain relatively limited compared with more developed markets.

Pinnacle has identified four priority sectors for the fund where it sees sustained long-term growth drivers:

  • FinTech — supported by rapid regulatory development and a continued shift toward digital financial services.
  • Future of Cities and Quality of Life — driven by Riyadh’s transformation into a global city and rising demand for housing, mobility, real estate and urban services.
  • E-commerce — targeting the opportunity created by a gap between current e-commerce penetration in Saudi Arabia and levels seen in global markets.
  • Health & Lifestyle — capturing demand from rising health awareness and growing interest in preventive healthcare services.

Pinnacle’s model combines two complementary investment approaches. First, the fund will deploy growth capital into companies that have demonstrated strong performance and are preparing for scale. Second, the fund will participate in secondary transactions, buying stakes from existing shareholders to create immediate liquidity and allow founders, early backers or employees to monetize part of their holdings without forcing company-level exits or IPOs.

"Four Sectors in Focus: Pinnacle Bets on Technology to Close the Liquidity Gap for High-Growth Saudi Companies," the announcement adds, underscoring the firm’s belief that sector-specific concentration — particularly in technology-related fields — can both source attractive growth opportunities and address structural liquidity constraints.

Market observers expect that a growing number of similar funds could emerge as more Saudi startups mature and require capital structures beyond seed and Series A financing. By providing both growth capital and secondary solutions, Pinnacle aims to strengthen the investment infrastructure surrounding Saudi technology companies and offer investors additional routes to liquidity.

Outlook: If Pinnacle’s fund can successfully source deals across its four target sectors and execute secondary transactions at scale, it may accelerate the evolution of Saudi Arabia’s venture capital market toward a fuller investment cycle that supports startups from early funding through growth and eventual exits. The initiative represents a bet that the Kingdom’s tech ecosystem is ready for more sophisticated capital solutions that match companies’ advancing stages of development.
