Pakistani-born entrepreneur’s payments startup raises $20m
Fin.com, a payments infrastructure startup co‑founded by Pakistani-born entrepreneurs Mustafa Dar and Nabeel Alamgir, raised a $20M seed round led by Expa to simplify cross-border transfers across South Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The company combines stablecoin settlement with local payout rails and operates offices including Lahore, Dubai and New York.

Fin.com, a payments infrastructure startup co‑founded by Pakistani‑born entrepreneur Mustafa Dar and Nabeel Alamgir, has emerged from stealth with a $20 million seed round aimed at simplifying cross‑border transfers in South Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The round was led by Expa, the investment firm founded by Uber co‑founder Garrett Camp, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Tenet Fund, and Bam Azizi, founder of Figure and Mesh. The company said it has an office in Lahore and additional offices across New York, Las Vegas, Dubai, Dhaka and Bangalore.
"For Pakistan, the challenge is familiar: money sent from abroad must reach recipients through services they can use locally," the company said, highlighting the challenge its platform is designed to address.
What Fin.com does
Fin.com provides payment infrastructure that businesses can embed under their own brands to collect, convert, hold and pay out funds worldwide. The startup combines stablecoin settlement with on‑the‑ground payment rails — including local bank accounts and mobile wallets — to ensure funds arrive in forms recipients can access. Expa describes Fin.com as a platform that lets companies "collect, convert, hold, and pay out funds worldwide."
The founders say the product was shaped by personal experience: both Dar and Alamgir have spoken about watching their families navigate the difficulty of sending money home. Dar, who previously founded private aviation firm 24/7 Jet, joined Fin.com as a cofounder after Alamgir pitched him the idea.
Funding and backers
- Round: $20 million seed
- Lead investor: Expa (founded by Garrett Camp)
- Other investors: Coinbase Ventures, Tenet Fund, Bam Azizi (Figure and Mesh)
Expa lists Dar and Nabeel Alamgir as Fin.com’s founders. The company did not disclose a valuation for the seed round. Expa partner Vitor Lourenço replaced the investment role Dar had initially been expected to fill, according to the company.
Scale, markets and operations
Fin.com says its clients collectively serve more than 800 million users, though the startup has not named individual customers. The company has positioned Lahore as a priority market while operating offices in key global and regional hubs:
- Lahore
- New York
- Las Vegas
- Dubai
- Dhaka
- Bangalore
Target markets include South Asia, Africa and the Middle East, reflecting the large remittance corridors where recipients often rely on local bank accounts and mobile wallets to receive funds.
Outlook
With a $20 million seed and high‑profile backers including Expa and Coinbase Ventures, Fin.com enters a competitive field of payments infrastructure providers seeking to bridge on‑chain settlement and off‑chain payout rails. The company’s combination of stablecoin settlement and local payout integrations is intended to reduce friction for businesses moving money across borders while ensuring final‑mile accessibility for recipients. How quickly Fin.com can convert its stated reach — clients purportedly serving 800 million users — into named partnerships and live payment flows will shape its ability to expand across the South Asian, African and Middle Eastern corridors it has targeted.
