Jordan Minister pitches investment opportunities to Jordanian investors in UAE
Amman, May 5 — Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah met with Jordanian investors residing in the United Arab Emirates on the sidelines of the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event to review investment opportunities and outline a package of reforms aimed at improving Jordan’s business environment. Qudah urged diaspora investors to capitalise on projects in industry, energy, transport and logistics, and briefed them on a series of major strategic projects planned by the government.
"The government is proceeding with a package of economic and administrative reforms aimed at improving Jordan’s business environment and strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy," Qudah said, stressing measures to simplify procedures, accelerate transaction processing and remove obstacles that may affect investors' journeys.
Qudah detailed specific reforms under way, including the government's approval of an executive action plan to reform the sectoral licensing system for priority licenses and the adoption of executive rules for sectoral licensing "as a unified and binding national reference for all government entities issuing licenses." He said these steps are intended to reduce red tape and provide clearer, standardized licensing across sectors.
- Reforms: Executive action plan for sectoral licensing and unified executive rules
- Priority sectors highlighted: industry, energy, transport and logistics
- Major projects discussed: National Water Carrier Project, railway projects, the new Amra City, and infrastructure projects under public-private partnerships
Qudah also emphasised the government's commitment to public-private partnerships, noting that "the coming phase will see expanded implementation of public-private partnership projects in several vital sectors." He presented an overview of planned strategic initiatives — among them the National Water Carrier Project, several railway projects, the new Amra City and various infrastructure schemes earmarked for PPP delivery — and invited Jordanians abroad to participate in "quality projects that support economic growth and create jobs."
On broader economic performance, Qudah pointed to positive indicators: growth of about 3 percent by the end of the fourth quarter of last year, higher national exports reaching record levels, and the continued affirmation of Jordan’s credit rating by international institutions. "These figures reflect the economy’s resilience and ability to address various challenges," he said, adding that the government is taking "proactive and well-studied measures to deal with the repercussions of regional developments and limit their impact on the economy, particularly by maintaining price stability and ensuring monetary and fiscal stability."
Qudah stressed the importance of sustained communication with investors abroad. "The ministry is placing all its capabilities at the service of investors and working to provide an attractive investment environment," he said, adding that the ministry will listen to feedback and work to address challenges to enhance investor contribution to the national economy.
Attendees at the briefing expressed interest in expanding investments in Jordan, commending the government's efforts to improve the business environment and calling for continued dialogue and coordination with official entities to strengthen investment opportunities. The meeting underscores a push by Jordanian officials to mobilise diaspora capital and expertise for a pipeline of state-led and PPP projects planned in the coming period.
