JCI launches platform to track Jordan's industrial challenges

The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) launched an online platform to collect and track operational challenges facing Jordan's industrial sector, creating a living database to prioritize and coordinate policy responses. The portal lets establishments report multiple issues across categories (energy, logistics, labor, finance, etc.) and enables JCI follow-up with government bodies.

JCI launches platform to track Jordan's industrial challenges

Amman, Oct. 3 — The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) launched a specialized online platform on Oct. 3 to monitor and document challenges facing the Kingdom’s industrial sector, aiming to create a "direct and sustainable" channel for industrial enterprises to report operational obstacles and inform policy responses. The portal is designed to capture a real-time, sector-wide picture of issues affecting factories and industrial facilities across Jordan.

"The platform stems from the chamber's role in representing and advocating for the industrial sector," the JCI said in a statement, adding that the tool will help develop "practical" solutions for priority issues.

The platform allows industrialists to identify multiple problems simultaneously from a wide menu of categories. These include legislation, regulations and directives; government procedures; logistics and shipping; energy; finance; labor; exports; and supply chain concerns, among other matters relevant to industry. Users may choose from predefined options or describe a challenge in their own words, detailing its nature and impact on their facility.

How it works

  • Industrial establishments register and can select "multiple" challenges affecting their operations.
  • Submissions can be made via predefined categories or through free-text descriptions to explain the nature and impact of issues.
  • Data entered into the portal will populate a living database of sector challenges that the chamber will use to prioritize action.
  • A specialized JCI team will follow up directly with establishments that report issues to gather additional information, track details and coordinate responses with relevant government bodies and partners.

JCI officials said the database will be continuously updated so that the chamber can maintain an "accurate, comprehensive" picture of obstacles impacting competitiveness and growth potential across different sectors and regions. The chamber emphasized that details shared on the platform will be forwarded to relevant government agencies and partners to devise targeted policy and procedural remedies.

"This privilege enables the chamber to build an accurate, comprehensive picture of the challenges facing industrialists across various sectors and regions," the statement said, noting the follow-up process aims to accelerate response times and enhance "efficiency" in resolving these challenges.

The chamber urged Jordan's industrial establishments to "actively" engage with the platform, register their challenges and submit feedback and proposals in an organized manner. JCI said such participation is a "crucial" step toward shaping better legislative, procedural and investment environments that would support the growth and competitiveness of national industry.

Outlook

By centralizing reports of operational problems and formalizing follow-up procedures, JCI expects the platform to improve the chamber’s advocacy and problem-solving capacity, providing policymakers with prioritized, evidence-based issues to address. If widely adopted by manufacturers and industrial operators, the portal could shorten resolution timelines and focus government and private sector efforts on the most pressing barriers to industrial expansion and export competitiveness in Jordan.
