India-Based Startup Cradlewise Raises $12M to Expand AI-Powered Child Sleep Products Globally

Indian SleepTech startup Cradlewise has raised $12 million in a Series A round led by 3one4 Capital and Prudent Investment Management to accelerate global expansion of its AI-powered sleep technology for infants and young children. The funding brings Cradlewise’s total capital raised to $26 million and includes participation from Sean O’Sullivan Ventures, Footwork VC and Charles River Ventures. The company said it will use the new capital to enter additional markets, broaden sales channels and step up product research and development, including a wider portfolio of sleep products designed to support children beyond the first two years of life.

"We wanted to create a product that would do more than notify parents that their child was awake," said Radhika Patil, co-founder and CEO of Cradlewise. "The smart crib was designed to help babies sleep better while giving parents practical support, with the new funding enabling the company to reach more families and develop products for later stages of childhood."

Product, data and manufacturing

Founded in 2019 by Radhika Patil and Bharath Patil, Cradlewise has developed an AI-enabled smart crib that combines sensing, learning and soothing in a closed-loop system. The crib monitors movement, sounds and sleep state, attempts to predict when a child may wake, and intervenes automatically to extend sleep rather than simply alerting parents after a waking. The company claims the system can save parents up to two hours of effort each day.

Cradlewise says it has collected more than 75 million hours of sleep data, which feeds the product’s detection, prediction and personalisation capabilities. The startup also notes that its hardware and sensing systems are protected by patents. Co-founder and CTO Bharath Patil described the company’s technological approach as deliberately quiet and practical: "Cradlewise’s technology is built around sensing, learning and creating a practical impact," he said, emphasising that the engineering foundation is being built in India.

  • Lead investors: 3one4 Capital; Prudent Investment Management
  • Other backers: Sean O’Sullivan Ventures, Footwork VC, Charles River Ventures
  • New funding: $12 million; total raised: $26 million
  • Data collected: more than 75 million hours of sleep
  • Manufacturing: integrated facility in Pune capable of producing, testing and packaging thousands of units per month

Context and scaling challenges

Cradlewise manufactures its cribs at an integrated facility in Pune, which the company says gives it control over production, testing and packaging and the ability to scale output by thousands of units per month. The combination of proprietary hardware, sensing modules and a large sleep-data set gives Cradlewise a more complex operating model than a software-only consumer health business, meaning scaling will require maintaining both manufacturing reliability and AI performance.

The company is pursuing a product roadmap that moves beyond the birth-to-24-month focus. Planned initiatives include software-led sleep routines, additional child sleep hardware, more affordable entry-level products and reusable sensing and electronics modules aimed at shortening development cycles for future devices. That approach is intended to maintain relationships with families as children grow and to apply existing sensing technology to a wider set of sleep challenges.

Outlook

With $12 million in new capital, Cradlewise is preparing to scale distribution internationally while evolving from a single smart-crib product into a broader child sleep technology platform. The company will invest in R&D and expand sales channels to reach more families, while its emphasis on in-house manufacturing and India-built engineering aims to support both product reliability and faster iteration of new devices for later stages of childhood.
