Emirates NBD collaborates with Dubai Future District Fund to accelerate FinTech and AI innovation and enhance customer experiences

Emirates NBD has entered a strategic partnership with Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) to accelerate the adoption of FinTech and artificial intelligence across the bank’s operations and customer touchpoints. The collaboration will see both organisations jointly sourcing, piloting and potentially commercialising enterprise-grade FinTech and AI solutions aimed at improving efficiency, risk management and the customer experience.

"Emirates NBD is delighted to be part of this innovative partnership with another national entity focused on transforming Dubai into a nexus for business and an integrated environment for investment," said Marwan Hadi, Group Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD. "By partnering with DFDF, we anticipate delivering more personalised and intelligent banking experiences, faster deployment of digital banking capabilities, improved fraud detection and financial security, enhanced SME and business banking solutions and seamless onboarding services."

Partnership scope and strategic fit

DFDF is described as Dubai’s AED 1 billion evergreen venture capital fund of funds, anchored by the Dubai International Financial Centre and the Dubai Future Foundation. Its mandate is to fund and scale startups shaping the future of finance and adjacent sectors. Through the partnership, Emirates NBD will access DFDF’s curated pipeline of high-growth startups and secure opportunities for structured pilots, strategic partnerships and commercial deployments aligned with the bank’s priorities.

  • Target areas include AI-driven banking capabilities, embedded finance, digital assets, SME solutions, WealthTech, compliance technologies and next-generation banking infrastructure.
  • Emirates NBD said the tie-up will support faster deployment of digital banking capabilities and strengthen fraud detection, financial security and onboarding processes.
  • The bank’s association with DFDF will also reinforce its commitment to national talent development through the National Digital Talent Incubator (NDTI).

Institutional scale and innovation credentials

Emirates NBD is a major regional banking group with a presence in 13 countries and more than 25 million active customers. As at 30 June 2026, the group reported total assets of AED 1.3 trillion (approximately USD 354 billion), 1,425 branches and 4,948 ATMs/SDMs. The bank noted that 97% of financial transactions and requests are conducted outside branches and highlighted Liv, its lifestyle digital bank, which has close to half a million users.

Nader Albastaki, Managing Director at DFDF, commented on the collaboration’s ecosystem benefits: "We are excited to partner with Emirates NBD, a progressive leader in the financial sector. This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision for a future where innovation drives progress and enhances the daily lives of individuals and businesses. It provides our high-potential startups with an unparalleled opportunity to explore pilot opportunities, strategic partnerships and commercial deployment within Emirates NBD’s extensive ecosystem, ultimately contributing to Dubai’s ambition of becoming a global hub for digital finance and entrepreneurship."

Outlook

The deal positions Emirates NBD to more rapidly trial and integrate FinTech and AI solutions across retail, corporate and wealth operations while providing DFDF-backed startups with direct market access to a large regional banking platform. The partnership is timed as the UAE FinTech market projects significant growth — market value in the UAE is forecast to rise from USD 3.16 billion in 2024 to USD 5.71 billion by 2029 — creating opportunities for pilots to scale into commercial deployments.

Emirates NBD also reaffirmed its longer-term commitments through initiatives such as the NDTI and noted it recently hosted the NDTI Founders Summit 2026 to showcase Emirati fintech and digital entrepreneurs. The collaboration with DFDF will be monitored for pilot outcomes, commercial rollouts and broader impacts on customer experience and operational efficiency.
