Egypt's ariika, Lychee deepen Saudi presence with Beltone Venture Capital backing
Beltone Venture Capital has increased its investment in Egyptian consumer brands ariika and Lychee to support a five-store expansion in Riyadh (ariika two stores, Lychee three), aiming to scale the brands across the region.
Beltone Venture Capital (BVC), the venture capital arm of Beltone Holding, has increased its investment in two Egyptian consumer brands — home furnishings retailer ariika and healthy food and beverage chain Lychee — to back their expansion into Saudi Arabia. The move will see the pair open a combined five new outlets in Riyadh, with ariika launching two stores and Lychee opening three as part of their regional growth plans.
"ariika and Lychee represent exactly what we look for – homegrown Egyptian brands with proven profitability, exceptional leadership, and the ambition to redefine their categories across the region. We are long-term partners in building the next generation of MENA consumer powerhouses. With a combined five new stores opening in Riyadh, this is just the beginning," said Ali Mokhtar, CEO of BVC.
The increased backing signals a deliberate shift in BVC’s approach: beyond providing capital, the firm is positioning itself as an active partner in scaling Egyptian consumer concepts into neighbouring markets. ariika, founded and led by Khaled Attallah, is a direct-to-consumer home furnishing brand that has already expanded beyond Egypt into Iraq; the company’s Riyadh openings are framed as a strategic continuation of that footprint. "Opening two stores in Riyadh is not just an expansion, it is a statement. We have built a brand that resonates deeply with consumers who value design, quality, and an exceptional experience, and we are confident that ariika will find its home in the Saudi market just as it has across Egypt and Iraq. This is the next chapter, and we are only getting started," Attallah said.
Lychee, founded by Mohamed Assy, will deploy three new outlets in Riyadh as part of a targeted regional growth strategy focused on healthier F&B formats. Both brands’ selections for Saudi expansion reflect market research indicating demand for curated retail experiences and health-focused food options among urban consumers in Riyadh.
Details of the expansion and strategic rationale
- BVC is the venture capital arm of Beltone Holding and has increased its investment in ariika and Lychee to support their Saudi rollout.
- Ariika will open two stores in Riyadh; the brand is led by founder and CEO Khaled Attallah and operates as a direct-to-consumer home furnishing retailer.
- Lychee, founded by Mohamed Assy and focused on healthy food and beverage, will open three stores in Riyadh.
- Combined, the two brands will launch five new stores in Riyadh as the initial phase of their Saudi expansion.
The announcement highlights BVC’s emphasis on backing "homegrown Egyptian brands with proven profitability" and on leveraging its capital and operational support to accelerate regional expansion. By targeting Riyadh, the companies are entering one of the largest retail markets in the Gulf, where new retail concepts and health-oriented F&B formats have attracted investor and consumer attention.
Outlook: The initial five-store rollout positions ariika and Lychee to test product-market fit in Saudi Arabia and to refine customer experience, merchandising and operations for further regional scaling. If the Riyadh openings meet performance expectations, the partnership with BVC could pave the way for additional store openings across the Gulf and deeper investment in brand-building, supply chain capacity and localized marketing. For now, both companies and their backer present the Riyadh expansion as the start of a broader regional push.
