Egyptian startups secure $3.5mn as investors favour infrastructure

Egyptian startups Mylerz and Reme-D have raised a combined $3.5 million in fresh funding as investors continue to prioritise infrastructure and healthcare plays with clear revenue paths. E-commerce fulfilment and last-mile delivery company Mylerz secured more than $2 million (over EGP100 million) through a mix of equity and credit facilities led by existing investor Lorax Capital Partners, with participation from payments firm Fawry and other shareholders. Healthtech developer Reme-D closed a $1.45 million pre-Series A round led by Anara Impact Capital alongside Global Innovation Fund, Africa Health Ventures and other investors.

"The investment environment has become markedly more selective, with capital increasingly concentrated in startups that can demonstrate strong fundamentals and measurable business performance," said Philip Bahoshy, chief executive of Magnitt.

The transactions arrive as Egypt attracted about $327 million in disclosed startup funding during the first half of 2026, the highest total among African markets in that period. For Mylerz, the fresh financing is intended to bolster working capital and accelerate expansion of its warehousing, fulfilment and delivery network across Egypt, including the addition of logistics capacity outside Cairo. The company previously raised $9.6 million in 2022, signalling sustained investor confidence in the country’s e-commerce infrastructure.

  • Mylerz: >$2 million (over EGP100 million) via equity and credit facilities; led by Lorax Capital Partners; participation from Fawry and others. Proceeds earmarked for working capital and network expansion, including new logistics capacity beyond the capital. Prior round: $9.6 million in 2022.
  • Reme-D: $1.45 million pre-Series A led by Anara Impact Capital with backing from Global Innovation Fund, Africa Health Ventures and additional investors. The company manufactures molecular diagnostic kits for tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis and HPV.

Reme-D plans to use its funding to expand production capacity, increase exports across African markets and accelerate development of new diagnostics targeting cancer and genetic disorders. The company’s focus on locally manufactured molecular kits is presented as both an import-substitution strategy and a route to improving access to affordable diagnostic technologies across the continent.

Analysts and investors have shifted away from speculative, growth-at-all-cost models toward businesses that can demonstrate operational execution and sustainable revenues. The Mylerz and Reme-D deals exemplify this reorientation: one strengthens physical logistics infrastructure that underpins Egypt’s growing online commerce market; the other builds local manufacturing capability for sophisticated medical diagnostics.

Looking ahead, both transactions underscore a pragmatic investor appetite for startups that offer tangible solutions to infrastructure and healthcare challenges while providing clear commercial trajectories. For Mylerz, the near-term focus will be scaling warehousing and last-mile delivery beyond Cairo to capture regional e-commerce demand. For Reme-D, priorities include expanding manufacturing output, entering new African markets and advancing diagnostic pipelines for non-communicable and genetic conditions.

As capital becomes more selective across Africa, startups that can pair measurable business performance with structural relevance—such as logistics networks and localised diagnostic production—are most likely to attract continued investor support.
