Digital Health Startup Statistics by Region
Global digital health funding showed an uneven recovery in 2025 with the U.S. and health AI leading deal volume and capital, Europe posting strong growth and demand for validated evidence, and India, MENA and Southeast Asia showing region-specific momentum tied to public infrastructure and targeted care solutions.

Global digital health funding showed an uneven recovery in 2025, with multiple datasets reporting divergent totals but consistent regional shifts. CB Insights tallied $22.3 billion in global digital health funding, up 19% year over year, while Galen Growth’s broader dataset put the figure at $28.8 billion, up 9% from 2024. The United States led in deal volume and capital with $14.2 billion across 482 deals tracked by Rock Health, Europe posted $3.4 billion across 182 deals in H1 2025, and the top five disclosed MENA healthtech rounds exceeded $367 million through September 16. Global exits numbered 113 in H1 2025, and 14 new digital health unicorns emerged worldwide in 2025.
"Digital health is no longer one neat startup category."
Regional detail and buyer demand
Market dynamics varied by geography. In the United States, Rock Health reported that health AI captured a majority of investor attention — Healthcare Dive highlighted that Health AI companies collected 54% of U.S. digital health funding in 2025 — while consumer adoption of AI for health information surged: 32% of U.S. adults had used AI chatbots for health information in December 2025, up from 16% in 2024. Rock Health also recorded a strong Q4 2025 with $4.2 billion across 129 deals, the highest U.S. digital health quarter since Q2 2022.
Europe’s funding momentum was notable: Galen Growth found $3.4 billion across 182 deals in H1 2025, a 52% year‑over‑year increase and a record 26% global share in its dataset. European buyers signaled demand for validated evidence, interoperability and measurable outcomes, creating opportunity areas such as AI diagnostics, workflow automation and public-sector proof points.
- India: Public digital infrastructure drove activity — by August 2025 Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) exceeded 79.9 crore accounts, with 4.18 lakh registered health facilities and 6.79 lakh registered healthcare professionals under ABDM. One dataset placed Indian healthtech funding at $828 million in H1 2025.
- MENA: The top five disclosed rounds surpassed $367 million through mid-September 2025, reflecting GCC investments in national digital health programs, Arabic-first access and chronic care solutions.
- Southeast Asia: After weak semesters, healthtech raised $108 million across 16 H1 2025 deals, with selective funding for care delivery, diagnostics and remote monitoring led from Singapore.
Context and ecosystem signals
Galen Growth’s H1 snapshot counted $12.1 billion across 616 deals, and its 2025 exits overview reported $13.9 billion in exit value with venture-to-venture acquisitions making up 68% of deals. APAC funding showed pockets of strength: Galen Growth’s APAC reporting noted $1.2 billion across 102 deals in an APAC window and $416.3 million in Q3, bringing a $1.6 billion cumulative total for the first nine months of 2025. Broader startup funding in MENA reached record highs too: MAGNiTT reported a 74% year‑over‑year rise to more than $3 billion in 2025 for total regional startup funding.
Outlook
Founders should target narrow, painful workflows that map to measurable buyer pain — workforce shortages, administrative cost reduction, wait times and chronic disease management remain priority pain points. With WHO projecting an 11.1 million global health worker shortfall by 2030 concentrated in Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, demand for tools that improve productivity and extend access looks set to persist. The 2025 data suggest capital is available but regionally concentrated: health AI and U.S. consolidation plays command large checks, Europe demands proof, India scales through public infrastructure, MENA emphasizes Arabic-first access, and Southeast Asia funds selective care and diagnostics scaling from hubs like Singapore.
