Bitroot Ventures Launches Early-Stage Accelerator to Support Egyptian Startups
Bitroot Ventures launched an early-stage accelerator in Cairo to support idea and pre-seed Egyptian startups, running biannual Build Camps and planning to fund roughly 10 startups a year with EGP 2.5–5 million per company.

Bitroot Ventures has launched an early-stage accelerator in Cairo targeting Egyptian entrepreneurs at the idea and pre-seed stages, with a plan to fund roughly 10 startups annually and provide between EGP 2.5 million and EGP 5 million per company. The firm will run biannual Build Camps, select about 20 startups a year into a three-month accelerator and ultimately invest in around five companies per cohort, taking equity stakes of between 10% and 14%.
"We plan to fund around 10 startups annually, with up to EGP 5 million per company," said Fadi Antaki, CEO of Bitroot Ventures. He described the program as a pathway beginning at the idea stage to address a growing gap in early-stage support and declining pre-seed funding.
Program model and support package
Bitroot Ventures' model is built around three stages, beginning with a six-day Build Camp designed to host approximately 50 ideas per cohort. The Build Camp uses advisors and sector specialists, alongside technology and artificial intelligence tools, to help founders turn concepts into testable minimum viable products (MVPs). Participants receive a no-cost support package that includes:
- Access to workspace and hosting services
- AI tools and training delivered by AWS and NVIDIA
- Marketing budgets to test market demand
- Advisory services to help establish and develop businesses
From each Build Camp cohort Bitroot will select about 10 startups to enter a three-month Early-Stage Accelerator that provides specialized advisory services, customer introductions, network expansion and investor-pitch training. After the accelerator, five startups will be chosen for investment, with funding intended to cover at least six months of operating expenses.
Selection cadence, sector focus and partnerships
Bitroot plans to operate the Build Camp twice a year, enabling it to review roughly 100 ideas annually, advance 20 startups into the accelerator and invest in approximately 10 companies each year. Antaki said the firm is not industry-specific but will prioritise ideas that incorporate technology and artificial intelligence. A network of more than 40 mentors and advisors will support the program.
Applications opened immediately and the firm has already received around 60 ideas, with expectations to reach about 100 by mid-October. The application window remains open until October 15, and the first Build Camp cohort is scheduled for the first half of November. Women currently represent between 20% and 30% of applicants, Antaki noted.
Bitroot has partnered with RiseUp to leverage its facilities and entrepreneurship content; RiseUp will also nominate entrepreneurs to participate. While the accelerator targets founders across Egypt, participation in the first year requires in-person attendance in Cairo. Antaki said the company plans to expand into other governorates over time to tap a "broader pool of talent and startups, particularly in Upper Egypt."
Challenges founders must avoid
On common pitfalls, Antaki warned against treating fundraising as an end in itself. "One of the most common mistakes made by some founders is treating fundraising as the company’s primary objective, rather than focusing on market needs and the product’s ability to compete," he said. Antaki added that investors evaluate not only the idea but the founder’s ability to execute, manage the company and build a team capable of scaling an investable business.
