KRAFTON opens BGMI LITE pre-registrations on Google Play in India

KRAFTON has opened pre-registrations for BGMI LITE on Android devices in India via the Google Play Store, with the lighter battle-royale title scheduled to launch later in 2026. The company says the new edition is designed to bring the Battlegrounds Mobile India experience to more smartphone users with an initial download size of around 1GB, and has already confirmed that players who pre-register will become eligible for exclusive rewards.

"Nothing Less, Just Lighter," KRAFTON's tagline for the new release, encapsulates the studio's aim to retain the core BGMI gameplay while reducing device and storage demands for users.

BGMI LITE is positioned as a complementary version of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) rather than a separate ecosystem. KRAFTON confirmed existing BGMI players will not need to create new accounts or manually transfer data — users can log in with their current BGMI credentials and have in-game progress, inventory and items carry over automatically. The company also highlighted cross-play support between BGMI and BGMI LITE, allowing players on both versions to form squads and play together.

Pre-registration mechanics and what to expect:

  • Android users can pre-register for BGMI LITE through the Google Play Store by searching for BGMI LITE or visiting the official Play Store listing and tapping the Pre-register button.
  • If provided, users can enable Automatic Install to have the game download automatically once it becomes available.
  • Players who complete pre-registration will be notified when the game launches and will be eligible for pre-registration rewards; KRAFTON said details about those rewards will be revealed closer to release.
  • Cross-play between BGMI and BGMI LITE means player pools remain connected across both versions.

The 1GB initial download size is a deliberate part of KRAFTON's strategy to lower the barrier to entry for users with lower storage capacity or less powerful hardware. By keeping the initial footprint small, developers can attract players who previously could not install or run the full BGMI client on their devices.

Beyond technical considerations, the carryover of accounts and cross-play are intended to minimise friction for the existing BGMI community. KRAFTON emphasised that progress, inventory and eligible items will carry over automatically when players log into BGMI LITE with their existing credentials, making transition seamless for the game's established user base.

While KRAFTON has not provided a specific release date, it reiterated that BGMI LITE will debut later in 2026 and encouraged fans to follow the game's official Instagram account for updates on launch timelines, rewards, gameplay announcements and future developments. Interested users who want to be first in line can pre-register now through Google Play to receive notifications and secure access to pre-registration rewards once they are announced.
