BENEFIT Integrates Bahrain Credit Bureau With Oman’s Mala’a to Expand GCC Credit Data Access
BENEFIT has integrated the Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau (BCRB) with Oman's Mala’a, expanding cross‑border corporate credit data access across the GCC and linking BCRB members to Omani company credit reports via portal and API.

BENEFIT has completed the integration of the Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau (BCRB) with the Oman Credit and Financial Information Centre “Mala’a”, a move announced on August 31, 2026 that expands access to cross‑border corporate credit data across the GCC. The integration links BCRB members to Omani company credit reports via the Bahrain Credit portal or through an API, and extends a network that already includes the Saudi Credit Bureau “SIMAH” and Kuwait Credit Information Network Company “Ci‑Net”.
“The integration between the Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau and the Oman Credit and Financial Information Centre ‘Mala’a’ represents a significant step in advancing the region’s credit information infrastructure, and also highlights the role of reliable data in supporting financing decisions and improving risk management,” said Ms. Hessa Husain, Deputy Chief Executive, Bahrain Credit Reference Bureau and Data Services. “As credit information becomes more connected and comprehensive, financial institutions are better positioned to understand customer needs, deliver faster and more flexible credit services, and make decisions based on a clearer view of companies’ credit profiles.”
Context and details
BENEFIT, described in the announcement as the Kingdom’s innovator and leading company in Fintech and electronic financial transactions service, led the technical and operational work to connect the two bureaus. The integration enables financial institutions in Bahrain to access credit reports for companies operating in the Sultanate of Oman directly through the BCRB portal or via an Application Programming Interface (API), offering “greater efficiency and flexibility in the credit assessment process,” the organisation said.
- Network expansion: Integration with Mala’a builds on existing links to SIMAH (Saudi Arabia) and Ci‑Net (Kuwait), increasing the reach of the GCC Credit Bureau Service.
- Operational benefits: Members can accelerate customer onboarding, enhance risk assessment, and make more informed lending decisions based on cross‑border corporate credit information.
- Access methods: Credit data is available through the Bahrain Credit portal and by API, supporting both manual and automated workflows.
The move is positioned as both a practical upgrade for financial institutions and a contributor to regional economic growth by improving the information available for credit decisions. According to the announcement, the integration “further supports regional economic growth by enabling financial institutions to make more informed credit decisions based on reliable credit information.”
Outlook
With the Mala’a integration in place, BENEFIT and Bahrain Credit signal an ongoing push to deepen connectivity among GCC credit bureaus. The expanded dataset should help banks and lenders better evaluate corporate exposures across markets, potentially reducing credit risk and accelerating trade and investment activity. Future steps implied by the initiative include continued technical linkages with other bureaus, broader API adoption among members, and incremental improvements in cross‑border data harmonisation.
Challenges remain implicit: ensuring consistent data standards, protecting data privacy across jurisdictions, and maintaining real‑time accuracy as companies operate increasingly across borders. Still, the integration with Mala’a represents a concrete advancement in the GCC Credit Bureau Service and reinforces the region’s move toward a more interconnected credit information ecosystem.
