Bahraini Insurtech Startup Soor Secures a Pre-Seed Investment from Spring to Simplify Insurance Access

Soor, a Bahrain-licensed insurtech platform, has secured a pre-seed investment from venture firm Spring to accelerate product development and expand its footprint. The startup, founded by Mahmood Dhaif and co-founded by Qasim Albaqali, aims to simplify the insurance journey for consumers in Bahrain by enabling users to compare and purchase policies from leading local insurers within a single digital app. The platform is licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and positions itself as a digital bridge between customers and insurance providers.

“We built SOOR to simplify insurance for customers by helping them find policies that match their needs in less than a minute, from leading insurance companies in Bahrain. For insurers, SOOR creates a stronger digital channel to reach, serve, and understand customers better. With Spring’s investment, we can accelerate our mission to support the digital transformation of insurance and deliver greater value to the market,” said Mahmood Dhaif, Founder of Soor.

Soor’s product is designed to address a fragmented and time-consuming insurance purchase process. Through a single app, users can search, compare and select coverage options tailored to their needs, while insurers gain a streamlined digital distribution and customer-insight channel. The company highlights transparency, competitive pricing, and convenience as core benefits—aiming to reduce the complexity traditionally associated with finding and buying insurance.

Team, licensing and investor rationale

  • Founders: Mahmood Dhaif (Founder) and Qasim Albaqali (Co-founder)
  • Regulatory status: Licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB)
  • Investor: Spring (pre-seed investment)

Dhaif brings more than a decade of experience across corporate and startup environments, with a track record in driving business growth and innovation. Co-founder Qasim Albaqali is described as a seasoned software engineering leader with deep expertise in software architecture, engineering management, and building scalable technology solutions—skills intended to support Soor’s ambitions for a robust, market-ready platform.

Spring’s investment reflects the firm’s stated interest in founders addressing tangible market inefficiencies through technology. “Insurance is an essential service, yet the experience has long been fragmented and difficult to navigate. Soor addresses this challenge with a clear and scalable solution, and we believe Mahmood and his team are well-positioned to drive meaningful change in Bahrain and beyond,” said Zainab Khamis, Managing Director of Spring.

Product focus and market plans

  • Core offering: Compare and purchase insurance policies in-app from top Bahraini insurers
  • Value proposition: Faster policy discovery, transparent pricing, improved customer experience
  • Near-term priorities: Enhance platform capabilities and deepen partnerships with insurers

With the new capital from Spring, Soor will invest in enhancing platform features, expanding insurer partnerships and improving the end-user experience. The startup will also concentrate on solidifying its market presence in Bahrain while exploring regional expansion opportunities as digital adoption in financial services continues to grow. By combining regulatory standing, founding-team experience and investor backing, Soor aims to be a focal point for digital insurance distribution and customer engagement in the Bahraini market.
