QSTP launches revamped 16-week incubation programme for 52 startups
Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, on 1 September 2026 opened a revamped Incubation Programme for a Fall 2026 cohort of 52 startups. The intake comprises 25 local and 27 international companies spanning 19 sectors, and runs a structured 16-week pathway made up of three phases: a four-week Venture Development stage, an eight-week Incubation stage and a four-week Funding stage designed to take ventures from hypothesis testing to market and investor readiness.
“Great startups are not built through ideas alone, rather they are built by testing assumptions, proving demand, and turning evidence into action,” said Rama Chakaki, President of QSTP.
The redesigned programme opens with an intensive Venture Development phase that concentrates founders on product-market fit, product readiness, go-to-market strategy, assessment of market potential, financial performance and team dynamics. That initial four-week period will combine workshops, mentorship, hands-on venture development, fieldwork and regular pitching sessions so participants can evaluate progress using evidence and data and refine their products and business strategies based on market feedback.
- Venture Development (4 weeks): testing assumptions and developing core business elements through workshops, mentorship and fieldwork.
- Incubation (8 weeks): piloting solutions within Qatar’s local business ecosystem and taking practical steps toward commercialisation.
- Funding (4 weeks): connecting investment-ready startups with relevant investors and supporting follow-up engagement.
Following a structured evaluation at the end of the Venture Development phase, selected startups will enter the eight-week Incubation phase. QSTP states this middle stage is focused on execution—supporting founders as they pursue pilot opportunities, engage with Qatar’s local business ecosystem and prepare for potential regional expansion. The programme’s final Funding phase aims to facilitate introductions and communication between founders and potential investors while supporting follow-up discussions to help ventures position themselves for their next growth stage.
The 52 startups in the cohort represent a broad mix of technologies and business models. Sectors cited in the programme materials include education technology (EdTech), medical technology (MedTech), financial technology (FinTech), cybersecurity and sports technology (SportsTech), among others. The balance of 25 Qatari and 27 international companies underlines QSTP’s objective to attract and support entrepreneurial talent both domestically and from overseas.
Rama Chakaki framed the revamp as an effort to move founders beyond idea-stage work toward evidence-based execution, providing “resources, guidance and opportunities needed to build companies with strong growth potential, establish a presence in Qatar and expand into wider regional markets.”
Outlook: With its phased, milestone-driven design, the programme aims to create clearer pathways from validation to commercial pilots and investor engagement. By concentrating on hands-on market testing during the early weeks and structured investor outreach at the end, QSTP intends to increase the number of startups able to secure pilots and regional expansion opportunities. The Fall 2026 cohort will be the first test of the revamped model; investor matches and pilot outcomes over the coming months will determine how effectively the programme translates early-stage progress into commercial traction and funding commitments.
