IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi تطلق Al Ibtikar مع برنامج UAE Innovation and AI Bootcamp 2026

IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi (IITD-AD) has launched Al Ibtikar, a flagship school outreach initiative that begins with the UAE Innovation and AI Bootcamp 2026, a three-day residential programme running from 6 to 8 July 2026 on the IITD-AD campus. The initiative targets Grade 11 and Grade 12 students across the UAE, with the stated aim of creating a long-term pipeline to train school students in artificial intelligence, sustainability and other emerging technologies through hands-on learning, mentorship and real-world challenges.

"At its core, Al Ibtikar is designed to identify and nurture the UAE’s next generation of innovators," IITD-AD said in outlining the programme, which builds on Energy and AI Innovation Bootcamps held at the campus in summer and winter 2025.

The bootcamps in 2025 reportedly brought together more than 100 Grade 11 and 12 students, including 72 UAE Nationals, for immersive three-day sessions on AI, energy systems and sustainability. During those sessions students developed more than 25 project concepts across healthcare, transport, education and assistive technologies, and 11 teams progressed to the Pitch Your Dream Startup challenge where they presented solutions in clean energy, smart cities and AI applications to academic and industry reviewers.

Programme design and components

  • Residential bootcamp: The inaugural Al Ibtikar: UAE Innovation and AI Bootcamp 2026 runs 6–8 July 2026 at IITD-AD and will convene senior secondary students from across the UAE to work on AI and emerging-technology challenges.
  • Multi-touch learning journey: Al Ibtikar is described as a continuum of experiences — not a one-off programme — combining Innovation Labs, mentorship from IIT Delhi and IITD-AD faculty, industry practitioners, focused Masterclasses, and Youth Leadership experiences.
  • Applied project work: Students will collaborate in teams to test assumptions, iterate solutions and translate ideas into prototypes, with projects grounded in contexts such as energy transition, net zero pathways and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Skills and pathways: Participants will receive training in design thinking and innovation, deepen domain understanding in STEM fields, and gain guidance on academic and career pathways.

IITD-AD positions Al Ibtikar as a structured pipeline to move students from exposure to applied innovation through sustained engagement, mentorship and repeated opportunities to experiment and refine ideas. The institute emphasises the progression observed in earlier bootcamps, where students advanced from nascent ideas to more structured, workable solutions under scrutiny from academic and industry reviewers.

Outlook

The launch of Al Ibtikar aligns with UAE national strategies referenced by IITD-AD, including the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and We the UAE 2031. By embedding early-stage innovation training in the school years, IITD-AD aims to supply a longer-term talent pipeline equipped to contribute to the country’s AI and sustainability goals. The immediate measure of success for the 2026 bootcamp will be participants’ project outcomes and the degree to which the initiative can sustain engagement across subsequent phases of the Al Ibtikar pathway.
