ADNOC creates global LNG platform in Abu Dhabi.
ADNOC launched a centralised global LNG trading and marketing platform on the Abu Dhabi Global Market to integrate ADNOC Gas, XRG and ADNOC Trading and manage up to 47 mtpa of marketable LNG by 2035. The platform centralises long‑term marketing and origination in Abu Dhabi while preserving trading counterparty functions.

ADNOC has launched a global liquefied natural gas (LNG) trading and marketing platform on the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), integrating the activities of ADNOC Gas, XRG and ADNOC Trading into a single structure designed to manage up to 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG by 2035. The new platform centralises long‑term marketing, negotiation and transport functions with the stated aims of streamlining ADNOC’s expanding LNG portfolio, enhancing commercial flexibility and broadening maritime transport options for international customers.
"The initiative aims to ... manage up to 47 million tons of marketable LNG annually by 2035," the company said, signalling an aggressive growth target that would elevate ADNOC’s role in global LNG supply chains.
Integration and leadership
The platform brings together the marketing capabilities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading expertise of ADNOC Trading. ADNOC Trading will continue to operate as the counterparty for trading operations, preserving existing customer interfaces, while long‑term marketing and origination are centralised in Abu Dhabi.
Rashid Al Mazrouei was appointed Director of LNG Marketing and Origination and will oversee marketing of the combined portfolios of XRG and ADNOC Gas. "Rashid Al Mazrouei was appointed Director of LNG Marketing and Origination," the announcement states, underscoring the company’s focus on originating long‑term contracts from Abu Dhabi and leveraging ADNOC Gas’s historical supplier credentials dating back to 1977.
Strategic assets and logistics
The platform is intended to support the growth of Ruwais LNG, identified as a key project within ADNOC Gas’s expansion plans. ADNOC expects the centralised platform to optimise the sale and management of Ruwais volumes and other shipments across the combined portfolio.
- ADNOC Logistics & Services has expanded its LNG fleet to 20 vessels, including 14 modern dual‑fuel vessels, underpinning the group’s maritime capacity.
- ADNOC Trading ranked among the top LNG charterers in 2025, active both in physical operations and freight derivatives—capabilities the new platform will leverage.
- XRG’s international footprint in London and Abu Dhabi will extend the group’s commercial reach and infrastructure capabilities.
Abu Dhabi ambition and market positioning
Located in ADGM, the platform strengthens Abu Dhabi’s bid to cement itself as a regional energy and trading hub. The 47 mtpa target positions ADNOC and XRG to compete with major LNG operators globally, especially in a market where security of supply and maritime logistics are increasingly decisive factors.
ADNOC will maintain its existing commercial agreements with ADNOC Gas while centralising long‑term marketing, a hybrid approach intended to preserve customer continuity as the group scales trading agility and transport options.
Outlook
If the platform reaches its 2035 target, ADNOC will significantly increase its share of the global LNG market, driven by Ruwais LNG volumes, XRG’s international infrastructure and ADNOC’s growing shipping capacity. The success of the platform will hinge on executing maritime logistics, converting long‑term contracts into reliably delivered volumes, and navigating a competitive market where flexibility and supply security are paramount.
