Two Abu Dhabi investors — venture capital firm Shorooq and Abu Dhabi-listed AI company Presight — have participated in US industrial robotics startup Maven Robotics’ $100 million Series A fundraising round, the companies said. The investors did not disclose the size of their individual commitments. The new capital will support Maven’s third-generation fleet rollout and the design of its next-generation robots.

“The first wave of AI reshaped how we work with information; the next will reshape how the physical economy runs, and that is a far larger prize,” said Bilal Baloch, a partner at Shorooq.

Maven Robotics, founded in 2024, develops intelligent robots for logistics and manufacturing. The company says its deployed robots already operate up to 16 hours a day at customer sites with reliability above 99 percent. The Series A proceeds are earmarked to build out the third-generation fleet and to advance engineering on subsequent platforms, according to the joint statement from the Abu Dhabi investors and Maven.

Investment vehicle and strategic intent

Presight and Shorooq are participating through the Presight-Shorooq Fund I, a strategic vehicle launched in September 2025 that aims to invest $100 million in the next generation of AI companies. Thomas Pramotedham, chief executive officer of Presight, said the fund “seeks to support companies such as Maven with capital to help them scale.”

Presight is majority-owned by Abu Dhabi-based G42. The company’s shares closed at AED3.79, up 0.3 percent on the day the investment was announced and more than 15 percent higher year-to-date.

Regional tech context

The deal is part of a broader Abu Dhabi push into robotics and AI across private and state-backed capital. This week, the Abu Dhabi Investment Council — wholly owned by Mubadala — invested in a multi-billion-dollar fundraising round for Nscale, a London-based AI data centre operator. In January, Mubadala group CEO Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the $330 billion wealth fund was targeting opportunities in AI and robotics.

  • Maven Robotics: founded 2024; focuses on logistics and manufacturing robots; claims >99% reliability and up to 16 hours/day operation at customer sites.
  • Presight-Shorooq Fund I: launched September 2025; target size $100 million to back next-generation AI companies.
  • Presight: majority-owned by G42; shares trading at AED3.79 on announcement day.

Outlook

The participation of Shorooq and Presight positions Maven to accelerate deployment of its existing fleet and advance R&D on future robotic platforms at a time when industrial automation demand is rising. For the Abu Dhabi investors, the move reinforces a strategy of channeling capital into frontier AI and robotics companies that can scale operations globally. As Maven scales its third-generation systems and begins work on subsequent designs, the company and its backers will likely emphasize reliability, uptime and integration with logistics and manufacturing customers to convert technical capability into commercial traction.
