13 projects completed in Jordan's digital economy, Telecom, and cybersecurity sectors in May
The report highlights activation of 2.6 million digital IDs via the Sanad app, inauguration of comprehensive government service centres in Salt and Ajloun, and activities by the TRC, Jordan Post Company and the National Cyber Security Center including a postal employment initiative and cyber training.
Amman — Thirteen projects in Jordan’s digital economy, telecommunications, postal and cybersecurity sectors were completed in May, a monthly report issued by the Ministry of Government Communication shows. The report highlights activation of more than 2.6 million digital IDs through the government’s Sanad application, inauguration of comprehensive government service centres in Salt and Ajloun by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, and a string of regulatory, postal and cyber initiatives led by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), the Jordan Post Company (JPC) and the National Cyber Security Center.
"Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Postal Sector" and a "leading hub" for digital transformation
Officials framed several activities in regional and international terms: the TRC described its postal initiative as "Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Postal Sector" and characterised Jordan's connectivity ambitions as positioning the country as a "leading hub" for digital transformation.
Key achievements recorded in the report include activation of 2.6 million digital IDs via the Sanad app, which supports e‑government access and identity verification across public services. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship opened new comprehensive government service centres in Salt and Ajloun to expand citizen access to government services outside Amman.
- TRC international engagement: The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission participated in the 2026 World Telecommunication Regulators Symposium organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), joining heads of regulatory bodies, policymakers and private‑sector representatives to discuss the future of regulation amid rapid technological change.
- Postal sector initiative and academia partnership: In cooperation with the University of Jordan, the TRC launched the "Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Postal Sector" initiative — described as the first of its kind in the region — to integrate students and graduates with postal companies and provide ad hoc training to boost youth employability.
- Network awareness and enforcement: The TRC organised an awareness day on improving telecom networks with the GSM Association (GSMA), conducted field inspections of licensed and expired entities, confiscated non‑compliant equipment, and pursued legal action where needed. The commission addressed complaints about radio radiation, carried out 50 laboratory tests on radio equipment and resolved three radio‑interference cases.
- Jordan Post Company milestones: JPC secured third place globally in the 2025 Best Postage Stamp competition for its "Saints of Jordan" issue, inaugurated the Andalusian Post Office in Amman, provided postal and financial services to Egyptian pilgrims via the port of Aqaba, and released a commemorative postcard for Eid al‑Adha.
- Cybersecurity activity: The National Cyber Security Center issued the Cyber Security Situation Report for Q1 2026, ran a digital awareness campaign in cooperation with Zain Jordan, and graduated the 10th cohort from the "Cyber Knights" training camp.
Outlook: With regulatory outreach at international forums, academic partnerships to seed the postal labour market, and ongoing cyber awareness and training programmes, government bodies signal a continued push to operationalise digital identity uptake and strengthen network resilience. The combination of service expansion — through new government centres and postal infrastructure — and enforcement activity by the TRC suggests authorities will maintain a dual focus on widening access while tightening compliance. Monitoring planned follow‑ups to the Q1 cyber report and the impact of the postal employment initiative on graduate placement will be key indicators of sustained progress in the coming months.
